Introduction The study of Total Quality Management (TQM) originated globally in the Japanese industry in the 1950’s. But what exactly is Total Quality Management? How does it impact companies that are striving to become leaders in a global society? What changes have to be made in traditional management styles to accomplish a quality focused management style? This paper will strive to answer all the above questions as well as bind the Total Quality Management into the organization I am employed. Definition of TQM In order to define Total Quality Management we need to breakdown each entity. When we think of total we envision the whole, the entirety. Therefore everyone must be involved to make the difference. The sum of many each has a role to play in the area of quality. Quality means to conform to specific requirements – meeting customer’s expectations. Management is the act, manner, or practice of managing. Therefore, Total Quality Management is an organizational culture or attitude that aims to provide and continue to provide, its customers with products and services that satisfy their needs. This culture requires all aspects of the company to â€Å"do it right the first time.†TQM is the process for managing quality. Impact of Globalization As indicated in the introduction, TQM originated in Japan in the 1950’s. Finally in the 1980’s this new found discovery became popular in the West. Now as more and more organizations are looking to grow into the international market arena it has become very apparent that most American companies are already at a disadvantage. In order to be successful in the international arena quality has to be a priority. Japan is already 30 years ahead of American companies in mastering the art of TQM, therefore being a very strong competitor in other areas of globalization. Traditional vs. Quality Management Styles Traditional management styles may not always been totally customer driven, all decisions were made from top line management with little or no flexibilities to the front-line. Since the top line had to make decisions response times were slow, and employees worked as instructed. As management tends to focus more on quality the important aspects of TQM include customer – driven quality, top management commitment and leadership, continuous improvement, fast response to customer needs, actions based on facts, and employee participation. Evidence- Based Decision Making and Discovery
There is a history of information that has been compiled by health care professionals and sets guidelines for decision making done by health care professionals today. I Research Methods I Qualitative and quantitative research are two selecting research methods seed by scientists to collect and analyze date. Quantitative research is focused and objective research based on mathematics. Qualitative research looks at the whole picture, is subjective and collects data non-mathematically usually using symbolic representations.I Manuscript Organization I An organized manuscript allows the readers to understand and to be Informed of the Information In the easiest and clearest way possible. Manuscripts follow a general format that Includes an abstract, introduction, background, methodology, results and discussion, conclusions, acknowledgments, references, appendices, and tables and figures. The abstract is a summary of what the paper is about and discusses the processes and methods used. The introduction allows the reader to know what the paper is going to be about and why It Is important.The background fills the reader In on previous research and the study. Results and discussion is the part of the manuscript that discusses what the research found and what it means. The conclusion sums up the paper and recognizes advancements that have made because of the research done. The references portion of the paper is where all sources used are cited to give proper credit to publications that aided in the research. The appendices are additional methodologies that weren't included in the main paper but are important. Tables are used to show large amounts of dare and figures show illustrations.I Patients need to be provided the best care by their health care providers. Two aspects of providing this type of care focuses on evidence-based decision making and effective business planning. Evidence is so important in scientific discovery. Scientific ideas are tested based on evidence. The acceptance or rejection of an idea is based on the evidence that it relevant, not based on an opinion, or tradition. In order to have a scientific coverer the idea must be testable and actually be tested; evidence is what is used to test the ideas.With no evidence to a scientific idea be rejected and a discovery will not occur. Effective business planning is also a key in the process of scientific discoveries. Business planning needs to be centered on the evidence. Qualitative and quantitative research are two scientific research methods used by scientists to collect and analyze date. Quantitative research is focused and objective research based on mathematics. It that the research stays within the budget availabl e and for this to be done effective business planning needs to be done as well. For the best care to be provided evidence-based decision making and business planning need to continue in order for advancements in the medical field to continue. There are numerous examples of evidenced based decision making and business planning throughout the history of the medical field.One example of a scientific discovery using evidence resulting from the experiment is Ernest Rutherford labs test to see if an atom's positive mass is spread out diffusely by firing an alpha particle beam through a piece of gold foil (Caldwell, 2008). In this experiment the evidence showed that the majority of the alpha particles bounced back in the opposite direction as if they struck something dense. If the alpha particles were not dense then they would have passed through the foil, so the evidence showed that the atoms positive charge was actually dense and located in its core or nucleus.

I believe that corporal punishment should be banned in every school in the country. Corporal punishment has been banned in prisons, military training, and any place with animals. Corporal punishment in younger children has been linked to vocabulary and learning problems later on in their lives. This fact should be good enough for people to want it banned in schools. A child should not be able to be given corporal punishment in school, if they have done something bad enough to the extent corporal punishment should be used, the parent of that student should at least be called to the school to do the punishment themselves. A student should feel safe inside a place where they are supposed to be learning skills. They should not fear corporal punishment each and every time they walk into a school building.
